Happy Thanksgiving!

By · November 26, 2009 · Filed in Happy Thanksgiving · No Comments »

turkey Has this year flown by or what?

I use this time to reflect on my year and realize how grateful that I need to be for the good and bad times.

Each time period can bring times of great growth if you allow it.

Whether there were personal or business challenges, reflect on how you can turn things around and make 2010 even more incredible.

My family and I watched this gratitude dance this week and had a great time remembering to be grateful for all things. I thought I would share this video with you as well. I urge you to loosen up and do the gratitude dance. Even if you need to do it every morning to get your day started on a positive note. Here is the video of the gratitude dance: Happy Thanksgiving!

Will You Attend Mortgage Revolution? #mrev

By · November 23, 2009 · Filed in Mortgage Revolution · 2 Comments »

mortgage-revolution After reviewing Virtual Real Estate BarCamp in my last post, I asked the question if there would be a similar conference for the mortgage industry.

Mike Mueller led me in the right direction and I was able to find Mortgage Revolution.

Now if you can’t attend this event live, I have a way for you to view tweets from the event.

Be sure to go to People Browsr and search for this hashtag #mrev. This will give you all of the conversation from the event. You can also follow new people on Twitter from the same location.

Even if you search now, you will see all of the pre-chatter about the event. Here is a mini-excerpt from their blog and a link to the agenda…

What Is The Mortgage Revolution?

Rev·o·lu·tion – (n) a sudden, radical, or complete change

* Education: Hands-on, interactive and led by top active originators

* Networking: Meet the brightest mortgage professionals in the business

* Strategy: Execution, implementation and sales strategies that work

Partly inspired by the highly successful rebarcamp movement that has taken over the real estate technology world, Mortgage Revolution is tailored to meet the specific education, marketing, and networking needs of today’s loan originators.

A true educational experience provided by the participants and volunteer event coordinators. Even though the first big meet-up will be held in Atlanta, we plan on giving our blue-print to other originators who want to host regional Mortgage Revolutions in their neck of the country.

Organized chaos, high level brainstorming, user generated experience…. are great ways to describe these events.

Basically, there will be a set schedule of presentations, as well as planned activities to encourage mini work groups led by volunteers.

Show up, network, organize, share, teach, learn – you are responsible for your own education.

Click Here For Mortgage Revolution Agenda

Remember, if you can’t be at the LIVE event, be sure to use my tip above to listen in to the top producers in the mortgage industry!

Virtual Real Estate BarCamp Review #vrebc

By · November 20, 2009 · Filed in Virtual Real Esate BarCamp · 3 Comments »

barcampIt is very special to be part of a 1st annual event of any venue. I was able to attend a few sessions of the 1st Virtual Real Estate BarCamp.

It was a full day of webinars on how to use Social Media in your Real Estate business.

You may be thinking, “What in the world is a Barcamp?” Wikipedia explains,

BarCamp
is an international network of user generated conferences (or unconferences) – open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants.

There were 3 webinar rooms to choose from and here is the list of presenters and classes:

reb

reb1

reb2

I started out my morning with:

Tom Ferry – 3 Ways Top Producers Are Making Sales with Social Media

Scott Sambucci – Beat The Headlines, Be The Local Market Expert

Ginger Wilcox & Hal Lublin – Secrets of Web Success for 2010

Mike Mueller – LinkedIn: The Red Headed Step Child of Social Media

Here are some of the key highlights:

  • New site spatialmatch.com coming out in 2010 that allows you to search for certain homes by schools, starbucks, and shopping center proximities.
  • 24% of all web activity is on Facebook
  • Facebook users are on the site an average of 32 minutes / day
  • Facebook users search on average 14 different pages / day
  • Add SeeMyListings.com to your Facebook profile & fan page (my input: find mortgage calculators for the mortgage peeps)
  • LinkedIn links such as My Blog & My Website are indexed on Google
  • LinkedIn add in wordpress application to show live feed of your blog

There were a few sound glitches which is common but they were resolved. I enjoyed the presentations. I disagreed with a few things such as using ping.fm but that is just my personal preference.

Ping.fm is an application to update your status to all of your networks. I have a little different voice on each social network so I don’t have a need for ping.fm. I just focus on a select few social networks.

I’m looking around the web for a similar BarCamp for the mortgage side of the house. Be sure to let me know if you come across any mortgage related BarCamps. I will continue to keep my eyes open for any new and upcoming workshops.

Which one of these classes would be of interest to you? Let me know in the comments.

Virtual Real Estate BarCamp Webinar

By · November 10, 2009 · Filed in Virtual Real Esate BarCamp · 2 Comments »

vrebcsm3Will you be attending Virtual Real Estate BarCamp Webinar on Nov. 17th, 2009?

It is a FREE Webinar for Real Estate Professionals that want to explore various social media avenues to market your business.

I sent in a request to be a presenter and I am currently on a waiting list if anyone cancels! Social media is definitely a hot topic in the real estate and mortgage industry.

It is very obvious by the rapid pace that people are becoming fans of my Real Estate Social Media Marketing fan page, that there is a definite need for this particular market.

As I browsed the webinar schedule, I noticed that there were no Facebook or Twitter topics. I decided to fill that void by sending in my request to be a presenter. As I stated previously, I am on the waiting list for this webinar but you will have the opportunity to read my presentation on the same day.

On November 17, 2009, the same day as Virtual Real Estate BarCamp,  my article will be featured in Social Media Examiner, one of Technorati’s Top 100 Small Business Blogs. My article will be entitled,  “5 Ways to Promote Your Facebook Fan Page” so be sure to check it out next week. Don’t worry, I will remind you. :) **UPDATE** You can view the article now at the link above.

sme Be prepared to learn the best strategies to market your business on Facebook without sounding like a used car salesman.

There is no need for cold calling in this industry any longer. So save the date! Nov. 17th, 2009 will be an exciting day for Real Estate & Mortgage Professionals.

Let’s ride the wave together. Leave a note in the comments which topic is of most interest to you.

Which Twitter Lists Define You?

By · November 5, 2009 · Filed in Twitter Lists · 13 Comments »

businessblogger
I need your help in developing my Twitter Lists. As you know, Twitter Lists are the hottest topic in social media right now. I have read several articles on how to define my lists, however I want to hear YOUR feedback.

**********************************************************************************

Which Twitter List Defines You?

What Category Would Make You Hold Your Head Up High?

**********************************************************************************

I have seen some funny names for twitter lists:

2stwitterlist

“Too sexy for their shirt” and yes someone added me to that list. :)

I was super honored to be included on the following list:

“Entrepreneurs on the fast track” with a number of people following that list.

***************************************************************************************************************

Which leads me to an INCREDIBLE IDEA for everyone to implement right away. Go to each person’s list that you are listed and THANK them for adding you to their list. Now for some people this could be a year long project! :)

**************************************************************************************************************

I will be taking the next several weeks implementing this appreciation idea and continuing on as one of my daily Twitter tasks.

Here are some categories that I would feel super proud to be associated with:

desired

Business Blogger

Social Media Strategist

Real Estate Social Media Marketing

Mortgage Social Media Marketing

Fitness Blogger (Bet you didn’t know that one, eh?)

So go ahead [Don’t Be Shy], no matter what industry or line of work that you are in, list your ideas of how you would love to be listed in the comments. I want to be able to make you smile. How do you want to be remembered in the Twitterverse?
