Best Times to Send Email To Your Clients

By · October 22, 2012 · Filed in Best Time to Send Emails

I love to share infographics and this one I discovered via MarketingProf’s website.

The top engagement times for email are as follows:

in the mornings, 8 AM to 9 AM both for opens and click-throughs
in the afternoons, 3 PM to 8 PM for opens
3 PM and 4 PM for click-throughs.

This data was gathered from email marketing software provider GetResponse who in turn analyzed 21 million messages sent from US accounts during the first quarter of 2012.

Hi Naomi, This is a great article and resource for agents. Email marketing is the best tool available to small businesses when done right and this article should help a lot of people. With that said, I believe every email marketer gotta do some A/B testing at their level to see time they get the best response from their followers using the above timings as the starting point of the testing/experiment..

Yes I agree A/B testing is a great strategy to find out what is best for your target audience. Thanks for sharing! :)

Nice infographic Naomi. Thanks for sharing. I recently read that the best time to target mobile email engagement is around meal time. Mobile email opens are on the rise, the data suggests there are distinct times of the day that are most effective for reaching mobile users by email, based on the finds TailoredMail study conducted this past October. The study included an analysis of more than 150 million
emails sent between Aug ’11 and Sep ’12, the study shows
that 14% of all opens and clicks on a mobile device occurred from 6AM to
8AM. The second-biggest peak, at 12% share, occurred between 6PM and
8PM. No other period garnered double-digit
share of opens and clicks, although there was a smaller peak around
lunchtime (12PM-2PM; 9%). This suggests that consumers are actively
checking email when they are away from their desktops, whether that be
while commuting or at mealtime. Based on these findings, it appears that our kids are not the only ones bringing the smartphones to the table :-)

Rick, I totally agree that mobile email is on the rise. 6 am to 8 am is definitely the high peak period for me. Thanks for sharing! :)
