Attend Networking Events In Your Community

Attending events in your local community is a great way to meet new contacts and potential clients. Just how many of us are involved with this great business potential activity? It is definitely one of the number one ways that we have grown our business whether it is via online webinars or live events.

It has been 2 weeks since I attended The Millionaire Entrepreneur Women Conference 2010.
I shared in my previous part I review that I would elaborate on more speakers and topics.

Google Buzz This Wordpress Plugin
I am testing the Google Buzz This Wordpress Plugin button (pictured above). I was shocked that there was a Wordpress plugin for this already. I believe that @Mashable was one of the 1st major social media sites that integrated the button into their blog.
Of course, being the techy nerd that I am, I hunted down the actual Google Buzz This Wordpress plugin.
I’ve played around with Google Buzz a bit and there are many people saying that don’t really like social media but they LOVE Google Buzz. Then there are people that love social media but feel they don’t need another site to log into every day. Here are a few need to knows:
Google Buzz integrates with Gmail only There is now a Buzz icon under your inbox where you can follow and find all of your favorite friends to find out the latest buzz.
Google Buzz integrates with Twitter, Flickr but NOT Facebook It is possible to pull in your tweets and flickr photos but you can’t send out buzz updates to other networks. I’m sure Facebook integration will be a future goal with 400 million users compared to Google’s 150+ million gmail users.
Google Buzz will soon have a mobile app Yes that’s right. It will be possible to update your buzz status via voice and geotag your posts.
The verdict is still out on how this new social media site could affect the real estate marketing industry but I’m sure many people will be testing out the pros and cons very soon.
Have you used Google Buzz yet? Who will win the race to integrate Google Buzz first? Will it be Hootsuite, Seesmic orTweetdeck? I love Hootsuite the most although they tend to take their time with integration. I think Seesmic will rush to the table to be the winner. What say you?

Millionaire Entrepreneur Women Conference Review
I had the amazing opportunity to attend another inaugural event this past weekend, The Millionaire Entrepreneur Women Conference 2010.
There was incredible energy that only women can create. There was vulnerability about what holds women back in their business as well as magnificent tips and strategies to overcome these obstacles. I even got up on stage and shared a problem about the real estate and mortgage industry and 3 ways to overcome that problem. It was a spur of the moment decision but I have been in front of 200 women before so it wasn’t too much of a challenge.
I will share those 3 solutions after I discuss the most impacting parts of the program at least for me and my guest, Dana Sarbeck my best bud and former roommate from USC and owner of PR company Wildfire Public Relations.
She has incredible clients but she is having a hard time breaking through to hire more people. She has to have control of everything or nothing will get done right in her mind.
This conference and of course our talks in between breaks helped her confidence and growth in pushing past this obstacle in her business. Both of our favorite part of the conference was definitely the Marketing To The Affluent presentation by Kelly O’Neil. I have 7 PAGES of NOTES just from her presentation alone!
Kelly started off with an AWESOME Animoto video about why it is important to go after the affluent market since the middle market has drastically disappeared. She starts by saying exactly what my mindset has been:
“I am not participating in the current recession” and
“The economy is just a redistribution of wealth from the timid to the brave”
“There are Riches In Niches”
Are you listening to the media? Are you listening to the hype and buying into it?
People are spending money in today’s market but are you placing yourself strategically in front of these people?
It is important to understand what makes affluent people tick. It was very interesting and hilarious to hear her very affluent lifestyle growing up and relating that mindset to her strategy. After reading The No BS Guide to Marketing To The Affluent by Dan Kennedy, a light bulb went off in her head and Marketing To Millionaires was born. Here are the key points that stood out to me:
People Continually Buy 3 Things
- Ways to Make More Money
- Ways to Transform Their Life or Business
- Ways to Feel More Empowered
Ways To Promote Client Retention
- Provide HIGH Value
- Provide EXCEPTIONAL Service to EXISTING Clients (80% to current client base, 20% spent finding new clients)
- Ask your target market WHAT they want (It’s about THEM, not about YOU)
- Find out what your current clients like personally and surprise them
3 Things The Affluent Are Eager For:
- Efficiency
- Competence
- Convenience
Her strategy is working because she has people paying her 100K for her Diamond program and I sat next to one of her clients at lunch that is currently in her 35K Platinum program. People are paying for high ticket programs so the question is, are you getting in front of them?
The biggest thing that I took away is that I need to work on my Contextual Pricing Strategy which is a fancy word for my consulting rate sheet. I need to have a better break down for my various services. She shared her different levels of service and of course the price goes up for the more hands on approach and time spent with her one on one.
Now do you see why I have 7 pages of notes?
Ok, on to the next speaker – Barbara De Angelis Ph.D. who is one of the most influential teachers of our time in the field of relationships and personal growth.
For the past twenty-five years, she has reached tens of millions of people throughout the world with her positive messages about love, happiness and the search for meaning in our lives.
She is a transformation coach for those that are having a hard time breaking through obstacles in life and in business. Personally, I don’t have any obstacles right now so her presentation didn’t really stand out to me as much.
However, I really appreciated a few quotes from her:
“Law of Expansion & Contraction – Your every thought either expands or contracts your mind”
Her business card says the next quote that I really love:
Oh yes, I can totally relate to this quote! I have so many new clients in my real estate and mortgage business from using social media.
I also have so many mortgage brokers and real estate agents calling me from all over the United States and Canada for social media consults.

3 Details The Book of Eli Can Teach You About Social Media

I had no idea what The Book of Eli would be about as I walked into the theater this past weekend. I read the movie synopsis prior to going but I still didn’t have a clue. The various themes throughout the movie impacted me so much that I had to share and relate it to social media!
I will do my best to not “give away” the whole movie but just give you enough tidbits to get you into the theater.
Here is the vague synopsis that I read before we headed out to watch this thriller:
“In a post-apocalyptic America where the once-picturesque countryside has become a desolate and violent wasteland, one man (Denzel Washington) fights to protect the sacred book that could hold the key to the survival of the human race.”
Here are the 3 lessons that you can relate to social media:
Protect Your Brand
Eli was determined to do whatever it took to protect The Book.
In the online world, we need to do the same. We need to be careful what we post online to protect our business and our personal lives.
Even when it seems the enemy is after us, (a scathing blog post about your business practices from someone that may not fully understand your business model), it is important to be careful with your response but always protect your brand.
Determination To Reach Your Goal
Eli was determined to head West as that was the best location to protect The Book.
Measurable goals are definitely needed in marketing your business with social media.
If your current social media plan isn’t providing new leads and business contacts, it is vital to revise your social media strategy.
Commitment To The Plan
I was in awe of how committed Eli was to reading The Book every day.
He realized that he needed to help others and leave a lasting impact.
The same is true in the world of social media.
It is not about constantly broadcasting your message but engaging with people. Social media is about encouraging others and sharing their work as well. It is not something to try for a few months and abandon, so stick around and be committed to your social media efforts.
