Mortgage Revolution San Francisco started off with an incredible bang as Todd Duncan wowed us with his outstanding keynote speech. People from the event are constantly asking the Mortgage Revolution fan page when his speech will be available on video. His speech was that impacting and I will do my best to share his exceptional points with you. Todd Duncan’s speech is available now.

Life Is Hard…

This is how he began his speech as he shared his own financial & personal struggles. There wasn’t a dry eye in the audience as he shared about the recent death of his wife to cancer as we viewed the picture of him and his 2 boys huddled on a beach. There will be a video of his speech available in the very near future, but for now I’ll summarize his key points.

Balancing Life & Work

He challenged us to make every effort to have balance with family life and work. It’s important to make money AND make memories with your family. He shared a story about walking on a wire without a net. One way to keep balance is to never stop moving in a steady fashion which is true in business and in life.

Making Memories

It is so easy to get caught up in work, look at the clock and it is 8 pm! It is vital to commit to a plan to make memories with your family and fight for flexibility. Crave efficiency and productivity in your business. He said never miss out on an opportunity to make a memory. My husband took this to heart later that day by taking a walk along the bay. Little did we know that as he pulled me closer to him to create a memory, I twisted my ankle and broke my shoe! We couldn’t stop laughing at this new memory maker moment.

Taking Risks

Todd shared to start asking some questions about your business:

1. What are your current business opportunities?
2. Will it add value to you?
3. Does it make a difference in other lives?
4. Will it impact your community in a positive way?
5. Are you trapped in the ordinary of your industry?

He suggested to start a focus group or a mastermind to collaborate on ideas and make things happen in your business. Be sure to get rid of the negative junk inside of you because it will manifest itself on the outside and in your business. It is important to surround yourself with positive people, thoughts and emotions to really make a powerful mark in your business.

It was challenging to attend various sessions as many people stopped to speak with me about the session that I lead with Mark Madsen on Mortgage Blogging 101 and Social Media Promotion.

The sessions that I attended were Extreme 203K Makeover & How To Create A Facebook Fan Page To Attract Referring Real Estate Agents Like Flies To A Picnic.

I will share tidbits about these sessions in another blog post that is featured on The Niche Report. Be sure to read that post to gain more golden nuggets of wisdom.

This video shares the recap of Mortgage Revolution #mrev Atlanta. I was unable to attend in January but I’m already looking at flight information for the San Francisco event.

After reviewing Virtual Real Estate BarCamp in my last post, I asked the question if there would be a similar conference for the mortgage industry.

Mike Mueller led me in the right direction and I was able to find Mortgage Revolution.

Now if you can’t attend this event live, I have a way for you to view tweets from the event.

What Is The Mortgage Revolution?

Rev·o·lu·tion – (n) a sudden, radical, or complete change

* Education: Hands-on, interactive and led by top active originators

Partly inspired by the highly successful rebarcamp movement that has taken over the real estate technology world, Mortgage Revolution is tailored to meet the specific education, marketing, and networking needs of today’s loan originators.

A true educational experience provided by the participants and volunteer event coordinators. Even though the first big meet-up will be held in Atlanta, we plan on giving our blue-print to other originators who want to host regional Mortgage Revolutions in their neck of the country.

Organized chaos, high level brainstorming, user generated experience…. are great ways to describe these events.

Basically, there will be a set schedule of presentations, as well as planned activities to encourage mini work groups led by volunteers.

Show up, network, organize, share, teach, learn – you are responsible for your own education.
